I always seem to linger a little longer than I plan in Shiyong, and this trip was no exception. It was nearly a week after Aoling before I finally tore myself away from this pretty hill top village in northeastern Nagaland and the hospitality of Phejin and her family. The week passed fairly uneventfully, drinking tea at neighbors’ houses, walks around the tea garden, and playing with the puppy that Phejin’s sister and brother had brought home. It was a relaxing time at my home-away-from-home in Nagaland. But I can only relax for so long until I get the itch to hit the road again, and I said goodbye to my hosts and started off on what would be a 2 and half day journey to Mizoram, another state where the permit had recently been lifted.
